Overview
This article explains how to renew a sponsored account using the Delegate Access Management (DAM) portal. You must be the sponsor or a delegate manager of the account to renew it.
What you'll need
- Be listed as the sponsor or a delegate manager of an active, sponsored account
- Have a sponsored/role account expiring within a few months of its expiration date
- Connected to SFUNET-SECURE/eduroam on campus or connected to SFU VPN if remote
Steps to renew your sponsored account
- Sign into the DAM portal. You'll see a list of accounts you manage, alongside their expiration date and status.
- Select Manage account that corresponds to the account you wish to renew. You can also select Renew and enter the details immediately if the account is expiring soon.
- Select the Account details tab.
- Select Renew next to the Expiry date field.
- Enter the account code to be charged, reference, and expiry date
- Account code: Should be in the form of '7468-XX-XXXX-XXXXX', where 'X' is a number between 0-9. For projects, it should be in the form of '7468-XX-AXXXXXX', where 'X' is a number between 0-9 and 'A' is a letter.
- Reference: The description for the charge that appears in the journal. You can enter 'Comp ID' for example, as as reminder of what the charge is for.
- Select Renew Account to confirm the renewal.
What to expect
- The sponsored account will be renewed and the expiry date will be set one year from its previous expiration date
If something goes wrong
"The sponsored account has expired for a while and I can't renew it."
Submit a sponsored account renewal request. IT Services will re-instate the account and advise from there.
"The account is active but I can't renew it."
- Sponsored accounts can only be renewed a few months ahead of its expiration date
- Sponsored accounts can only be renewed by the sponsor and delegate managers
