SFU Mail - Cross-Permissions Behaviour

Overview

This article describes the cross-permissions behaviour between Exchange Online and Exchange On-Premises. While the majority of users will be migrated over to Exchange Online collectively, there may be some edge cases of which both parties should be aware.

Details

Cross-Permissions Behaviour

1. Location/Resource Account Access

  • Owner refers to the owner of the location or resource account
  • Delegate refers to a location or resource account

  • Green = Owners can log into the location/resource account
  • Red = Owners cannot log into the location/resource account

 

2. Send on Behalf, Send As Permissions

  • Send on Behalf: Messages sent by delegate have "<delegate> on behalf of <mailbox>"
  • Send As: Messages sent by delegate appear to come from the mailbox

3. Delegate Permissions (Calendar and Respond to Invitations on Behalf of)

Granting a user "delegate" permissions will allow them to view and edit your calendar, and respond to invitations on your behalf.

  • Note: Can view but not edit calendar. Cannot act as a delegate and accept/decline meetings on behalf.
  • Green = Can view pending appointments and edit calendar. Can accept/decline meetings on behalf
  • Red = Cannot view or edit calendar. Cannot accept/decline meetings on behalf.

 

4. Calendar Sharing

Calendar sharing refers to granting the recipient access your calendar with Editor permissions. Delegate permissions are covered in the above section.
