B.C. Time-Zone Change May Affect Calendar Meetings

Summary

Calendar issues related to British Columbia's change to Pacific Time (PCT).

Body

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

Beginning November 1, 2026, most of B.C. will remain on Pacific daylight time (UTC-7) year-round. During the transition, some calendar applications may display meetings scheduled after November 1 one hour earlier or later than intended.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS / VERSIONS / USERS

  • Meetings after November 1 may display differently across calendar applications and devices.
  • Meetings involving participants outside B.C. may be particularly affected.

WORKAROUND

  • Check the time of important meetings scheduled after November 1, particularly those involving participants outside B.C.
  • Avoid creating or changing non-essential recurring meetings extending beyond November 1 until application updates are available.
  • Consider including the intended B.C. meeting time in the subject line for important meetings.
  • If a meeting time appears incorrect, compare the meeting across Outlook, Outlook on the Web (OWA), or Microsoft Teams before changing it.
  • Do not manually change your device's time zone to correct meeting times.
  • If the discrepancy remains, contact the IT Service Desk and provide the meeting details and screenshots showing the different times.
