ABOUT THIS SERVICE
A listserv service that facilitates communication with large groups by enabling the creation, management, and utilization of email distribution lists. This service is provided to enable email lists that include members outside of SFU (people without @sfu.ca email addresses) for non-marketing related email discussion groups and notification lists, and for which the relationship to SFU should be evident in the list name. An example could be a national-network of researchers in a field that discuss topics via email between each other, or a one-way email notification to people who follow certain research topics from an SFU lab or project.
- Email lists created in this system will be in the form listname@lists.sfu.ca , making it evident that SFU is owning and coordinating the list
- Email lists created in this system must be owned by an SFU account holder, but members or managers can be from any email domain
- In order to create lists, you must first request an account in the system; you do not need to request an account to participate in a list as a member/recipient
- Once your account is created, you may then login to https://lists.sfu.ca. From there, you can request new lists or manage existing lists. New lists must first be approved to ensure that it meets acceptable naming and representation standards (for example: the name of the list should accurately represent the unit or activity and not be potentially confused with a similarly named entity elsewhere at SFU)
- You can choose to create an archive of all messages sent to the list and determine who can see that message archive
- Service updates will be sent to the simplelists-service-updates@lists.sfu.ca distribution list, you may subscribe to that list at https://lists.sfu.ca
